Moisture Mitigation is extremely important on wood, slab substrates, and concrete floors to ensure an epoxy systems performance long-term. Moisture Vapor Barriers or MVB's are used to block hydrostatic pressure and moisture from coming up through a concrete slab or substrate potentially causing failure to a concrete floor system , such as concrete overlays or epoxy coatings, which rely on the surface underneath them to bond to. Whether you need a moisture control system installed under wood floors or you want to ensure the quality of our decorative concrete coating install, moisture barriers give clients the re-assurance of performance and longevity in a world of uncertainties. Sometimes, the causes for failure in a slab are attributed to the original concrete mix, a water leak of sorts, nature's course in the given area (flooding), or just the Texas soil in a given area (natural springs). Moisture barriers are a non-negotiable in our concrete coatings systems when installed at ground level and/or show signs of vapor emissions.

Sealers and topcoats are used on most all decorative concrete floors and resinous flooring systems to provide a chemical and abrasion resistant surface to protect the floors underneath. Depending on the type of environment, concrete floor systems are designed so that they handle the abuse and wear accordingly. For example, urethane cement is specified in commercial kitchens because of the constant abuse, spills, heat, and water used daily on them and they perform like they should under those conditions.
Ever seen a restaurant floor fade or walk off in a minimal amount of time? Especially stained concrete flooring? The reason is the sealer or topcoat applied in most cases isn't suitable for the environment. Restaurants need a topcoat or concrete floor system that can handle grease, food and drink spills, foot traffic, etc on a daily basis. Basic sealers, such as acrylics and lower solids finishes scuff, scratch easily, walk or wear off quicker and generally fail if there's excessive water or moisture.
Having knowledge and quality performing products may cost more up front but they save you time and money in the long run. Not to mention, your floors stay looking good like you hoped they would when you chose concrete floors in the first place. New modern technology and innovation gives us these opportunities with new and refined systems, sealers and topcoats. Let FloorRescue help you today with a new system install or refresh the one you already have. It can be done and you won't regret it.
All our systems requiring a sealer or topcoat come in matte, satin or gloss options.
Improve your current concrete floors or choose a certified installer of such systems so that you're investment isn't in vain.
Please reach us at vip@floorrescue.com if you cannot find an answer to your question
Yes, unless you add anti-slip additive in the topcoat or choose one that meets those requirements.
100% Solids Epoxy floors are strong and chemical resistant. The durability of an epoxy system comes from the topcoat, which we only use those proven to be the most abrasion resistant on the market. Epoxy, left alone can scuff and show signs of wear as it is meant to be top-coated for traffic and regular wear.
Confident in our products and installs, FloorRescue offers a limited 1 year warranty against craftsmanship and defects alongside with trusted manufacturers warranties that are offered. However, if properly maintained, our epoxy systems will last the lifetime of the concrete or floor underneath.
